I retained a lot of head hair while pregnant with my son. I noticed it did not fall out at all, there would always be some after showering. Now, a year after giving birth, I have a ton of hair loss. My brush is pulling out a lot, I can put my hand through my hair and come out with 10 strands. I had my husband look and there is not balding. Is this normal? I am getting a little nervous about this.
The most common period of hair loss happens about 3 to 4 months after delivering. The increase in hormones during pregnancy stops hair from falling out. After delivering, the hormones return to normal levels, which allows the hair to fall out and return to the normal cycle. The normal hair loss that was delayed during pregnancy may fall out all at once or gradually. The hair loss is temporary and returns to normal within 6 to 12 months.
If it has been over 12 months since delivering, I would recommend seeing a doctor to get checked out because the cause may be due to something other than the pregnancy. If hair loss runs in your family, then you may want to try Womens Rogaine which is used to treat female hair loss that is hereditary and not caused by factors such as stress, hormones, disease, etc. You may buy this hair loss product at http://www.solutions4hairloss.com
